My Writings
Theater Review
In my Education for the Arts Advanced Musical Theater course, we are asked to review a performance we have seen. In this piece I reviewed five theatrical aspects of a play including acting, lighting, sound, set, and costumes.
In Cold Blood: Rhetorical Analysis
This is one of the very first writing pieces I wrote in my AP English Language and Composition class. In a rhetorical analysis you analyse the rhetorical devices the author of a piece uses to portray their overall purpose. In this essay I analysed Truman Capote's rhetorical strategies in his novel In Cold Blood.
Definition Essay
This essay was a part of our Rhetorical Modes unit in AP Lang. A definition essay is essay that aims to use various definitions from simple to complex to define and elaborate on an idea. In this essay I define music and explain its meaning and significance to the world.
Descriptive Narrative
This was another piece written in the early days of AP Lang. In a descriptive narrative, the goal is to "paint a picture" of an event in your life and describe it in as much detail as possible. In the piece I describe the morning of a forensics tournament.
Artificial Intelligence: Synthesis Essay
This was an essay we wrote in the middle of the year in AP Lang in further preparation for the AP Exam. In a synthesis essay, you create an argument from a given claim and use sources given to you as your evidence. In this essay I argued and synthesized sources discussing the importance of AI in the workforce.
Job Application: Letter of Intent
This is much more a casual piece of writing then the structured ones show above. For a job application I was asked to write about myself and why I would like to work for the business I was applying to. In this piece I dive into who I am as a person and the important qualities I believe I could bring to a workplace as well as people's lives.
Forensics Multiple Script
This is not a work of my own writing, but a condensed, 15-minute version of the Broadway musical Come From Away I created into a multiple, the event I participated in and captained. With the original script, I spliced significant moments from the production and put them together to create a shortened, coherent version of the story to fit the criteria for the forensics event. I cut the script, blocked, directed, acted in, as well as arranged music for the piece.
